Exxaro Resources Ltd is a diversified resources group engaged in the mining, extracting, and processing of minerals and metals including coal, mineral sands (titanium ore and titanium dioxide), base metals (primarily zinc, lead and copper) and selected industrial minerals as well as renewable energy solutions, with interests in South Africa, Europe, Asia and Australia.

The coal operations are mainly situated in the Waterberg (Limpopo) and Mpumalanga regions. Coal commercial operations comprise the company holding a 100% stake in the Grootegeluk, Matla, Belfast and Leeuwpan mines, and a 50% interest in the Mafube mine (a joint venture with Anglo).

Coal mining operations in South Africa comprise 5 managed coal mines:
• Grootegeluk complex - an open-cut mine with a Life of Mine (LOM) of over 46 years that produces thermal and metallurgical coal with a ROM of 51.93Mt.
• Matla - an underground mine with a LOM of 18 year that produces about thermal coal with a ROM of 6.59mt.
• Belfast - an open-cut mine with a LOM of 19 years that produces thermal coal with a ROM of 4.02mt.
• Leeuwpan - an open-cut mine with a LOM of 7 years that produces thermal coal with a ROM of 3.75mt.
• Mafube (50% JV) - an open cut mine with a LOM of over 16 years that produces thermal coal with a ROM of 3.00mt.

Coal exploration projects:
• Thabametsi - an open-cut project with a LOM of 35 years to produce thermal coal.

Non-controlled coal operations include:
• 12.04% interest in Richards Bay Coal Terminal (Pty) Ltd which operates a coal export terminal.

Renewable energy operations in South Africa comprise:
• Cennergi (Pty) Ltd - an independent power producer that operates the following wind farms:
- Amakhala Emoyeni windfarm (95% owned) - has a capacity of 134MW, 56 x 2.4MW turbines and a power purchase agreement of 20 years.
- Tsitsikamma community windfarm (75% owned) has a capacity of 95MW, 31 x 3.1MW turbines and a power purchase agreement of 20 years.
- Lephalale solar project (100% owned) - will have a capacity of 68MW with commercial operations estimated for 2025.
- Karreebosch - with capacity of 140MW with commercial operations estimated for 2027

Manganese operations:
• Tshipi Borwa mine 50.1% (South Africa)
• Hotazel Manganese Mines 9% (South Africa)

During the 2025 financial year:
• Exxaro Resources Ltd concluded the disposal of their entire shareholding in FerroAlloys (Pty) Ltd to EverSeed Energy (Pty) Ltd.
• Exxaro Resources Ltd acquired majority stakes in the 138MW Gouda windfarm in the Western Cape and the 75MW Sishen solar facility in the Northern Cape. The transaction is set to conclude in the first half of 2026.
