Impala Platinum Holdings Ltd (Implats) is an investment holding company with interests in the mining, refining, and marketing of platinum group metals, nickel, copper, gold, silver, chrome and cobalt. Operations are situated in the Bushveld Complex near Rustenburg and in the Great Dyke in Zimbabwe. Impala Refining Services (87%), situated in Springs, provides smelting and refining services through off-take agreements with group companies, which markets in South Africa, Japan, China, the US and Europe.\r\n\r\nMining operations include: \r\nSouth Africa:\r\n• Impala Rustenburg (87%) - 16 shaft mining complex and concentrating and 2 chrome recovery plants, with 11 years Life of Mine (LOM) and 40,381 employees.\r\n• Marula (73%) - 2 decline shafts and a concentrator plant, with 7 years LOM and 4,828 employees. The Marula Mine jointly owns the Makgomo Chrome plant that extracts and markets chrome tailings.\r\n• Two Rivers (46%) - 2 on-reef shafts and a chrome recovery plant, with 21 years LOM and 4,020 employees.\r\n• Impala Bafokeng (87%), previously known as Royal Bafokeng Platinum, was acquired in 2023. Operations consist of two mines, Bafokeng Rasimone Platinum Mine (BRPM) and Styldrift Mine (Styldrift), as well as two concentrators, with 27 years (LOM) and 10,281 employees.\r\n• Impala Refining Services (IRS) - manages the Group’s metal concentrate purchases and optimises the use of available processing capacity. IRS operates through offtake agreements with Implats’ Group companies (excluding Impala) and third-party producers, providing smelting and refining services using Impala’s infrastructure. \r\n\r\nZimbabwe:\r\n• Zimplats (87%) - 4 underground mines and a concentrator at Ngezi, with more than 42 years LOM with 7,679 employees.\r\n• Mimosa (50%) - 1 shallow mechanised underground mine, accessed by a decline shaft, and a concentrator plant, with 8 years LOM with 3,417 employees.\r\n\r\nCanada\r\n• Lac des Iles (LDI) Mine (100%) located in Ontario, Canada, north of Thunder Bay. The site comprises both underground and surface mining operations, supported by an on-site concentrator.\r\n\r\n\r\nCurrent exploration projects include:\r\n• Afplats Leeuwkop (74%) - Were impaired and non-operational and during the 2025 financial year remained suspended. \r\n• Imbasa (60%)\r\n• Inkosi (49%)\r\n• Waterberg is a joint venture between Platinum Group (37.19%), Impala Platinum Holdings Ltd. (14.86%), HJ Platinum (21.95%) which consists of Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (“JOGMEC”) and Hanwa Co., and Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) partner Mnombo Wethu Consultants (Pty) Ltd. (26%). As a result of Platinum Group’s 49.90% ownership in Mnombo, the Company has an effective interest in the Waterberg JV of 50.16%.
