Pick n Pay Stores Ltd is an investment holding company that trades through its subsidiaries in South Africa, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Namibia, Nigeria, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The group wholesales and retails food, liquor, clothing, stationery, books, sanitisers, hair, skincare and cosmetic products, appliances, white goods, general merchandise, pharmaceuticals, food supplements, and home improvement supplies. As at 26 February 2023, the group's operations covered a total of 2,204 stores, including 1,385 group-owned stores (2,018 of these stores are located within South Africa). The number of group-owned stores (1,385) was made up as follows: Pick n Pay • Hypermarkets - 21 • Supermarkets - 328 • Clothing - 311 (standalone) • Liquor - 297 Boxer with a total of (428) stores: • Superstores - 279 • Build - 31 • Liquor - 118 The number of franchised stores (747) include: Pick n Pay • Family - 272 (Supermarkets) • Express - 191 • Clothing - 22 • Liquor - 241 • Market stores - 21 The group also owns a 49% share of a TM Supermarkets (Zimbabwe) which has 72 stores, as at 26 February 2023. The loyalty programme has over 11 million active members. In 2018, Pick n Pay Online expanded its capacity of a same-day delivery partnership with Bottles, which was rebranded to Pick n Pay’s Asap! delivery app in 2021. Pick n Pay and Boxer supermarkets commenced a partnership with digital Tyme Bank in 2019, and had a banking platform of over 3 million customers across South Africa, as at 28 February 2021.
