Shoprite Holdings Ltd is an investment holding company. Its principal operating subsidiary, Shoprite Checkers (Pty) Ltd, is Africa’s largest food retailer and an omnichannel consumer goods retailer. The Group operates predominantly in South Africa and across eight African countries: South Africa, Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia and Zambia. The Group retails food, liquor, pharmaceuticals, health and beauty products, household goods, clothing, pet-care products, outdoor products and other general consumer merchandise through a portfolio of supermarket and adjacent retail brands. It also offers financial services through its Money Market platform and digital channels. As of June 2026, the Group operated 3,710 stores including OK Franchise stores, comprising 3,137 corporate stores (excluding OK Franchise) and 573 franchise stores. The Group's South African corporate store estate comprised: • 714 Shoprite stores • 545 Usave stores • 574 Shoprite LiquorShop stores • 342 Checkers stores • 40 Checkers Hyper stores • 352 Checkers LiquorShop stores • 272 adjacent business stores (including Petshop Science, Uniq Clothing by Checkers, Checkers Outdoor, Medirite Plus and other formats) • 22 Shoprite Cash & Carry stores The Group also operated 29 distribution centres supporting its retail network across South Africa. Its operations outside South Africa comprised stores in: • Angola - 26 stores • Botswana - 25 stores • Eswatini - 42 stores • Lesotho - 27 stores • Mozambique - 15 stores • Namibia - 94 stores • Zambia - 47 stores for a total of 276 corporate stores outside South Africa. The Group’s digital commerce platform, Checkers Sixty60, provides on-demand grocery and general merchandise delivery and was available from 997 stores at year-end. The Group’s adjacent businesses include: • Petshop Science • Checkers Outdoor • Uniq Clothing by Checkers • Medirite and Medirite Plus • Transpharm (pharmaceutical wholesaler) • Shoprite Financial Services • Computicket, the Group’s online and call-centre ticketing business providing ticketing services for events, travel and entertainment through retail outlets, online channels and a call centre.
