York Timber Holdings Ltd is an integrated forestry and solid wood processing company with interests in commercial forestry, softwood sawmilling, plywood manufacturing, and timber product distribution. The group grows, harvests and processes timber through an integrated value chain extending from sustainably managed plantations to sawmilling, plywood manufacturing and wholesale distribution. Its products are used in the construction, industrial, packaging, furniture and other value-added timber markets. The group's products include structural and industrial lumber, plywood, wood chips and a range of timber-related products. Products are marketed through its wholesale and distribution network to manufacturers, retailers, timber merchants and other customers in South Africa, the SADC region and selected international markets. The group owns 91,176 hectares of land comprising 53,853 hectares of commercial pine plantations, 1,527 hectares of eucalyptus plantations, 4,591 hectares of temporary unplanted areas, 31,090 hectares of conservation areas and 115 hectares of agricultural land. York operates two sawmills at Sabie and Jessievale (Warburton), one plywood manufacturing plant in Sabie, plantations located in Mpumalanga, a mechanised harvesting operation, fleet operations and a wholesale distribution network with centres located in Germiston, Polokwane, Durban and Cape Town.
