York Timber Holdings Ltd has interests in the commercial forestry, softwood sawmilling, plywood manufacturing and international timber trading industries. The group's processing plants convert softwood logs into a wide range of timber related products for the construction, furniture, cable drum, and pallet industries. Products include structural lumber, scaffolding, plywood, furniture components, wood laminates, pallets, decks, crates, as well as wood chips for pulp and paper. It markets products directly to manufacturers, retailers, timber merchants through its national sales network and partly through independent timber agents.
During 2021 York Timber Holdings Ltd, acquired businesses under the Agriculture segment with interest in farming of avocados and macadamias, a fruit packing facility, lumber and a pallet plant.
The group owns 89,579 hectares of land, comprising 58,851 hectares of commercial pine and eucalyptus forest and 30,816 hectares of conservation areas, streams and representative samples of natural biodiversity. The York Timber Group also operates 3 sawmills, 3 re-manufacturing plants, timber treatment facilities,1 plywood plant in Sabie, as well as, 8 warehousing and distribution facilities. It operates in one geographic segment, namely African countries within the Southern Africa Development Community.
