Between 70,000 tons and 80,000 tons of pasta is currently consumed annually in the South African Customs Union (SACU), with 85%, or approximately 65,000 tons manufactured in South Africa. 14,231 tons of pasta was imported in 2013, an increase of 40% from 2009.
